Slow But Sure...

We've had another busy week, or so...

We got the cabinets out, not installed yet, but they are in the apartment.

The front side of the house

We finally got our new (to us) truck!

The view from one of the living room windows just before the windows went in.

Yay!

This is looking into the kitchen.

The living room.

Looking into the office to the guest bathroom at the end of the hall.

Today, the rainiest day we've had in a long time, was trench day.  Digging the electric trench to the house.

This is the electric/water trench from the well. Stu dug that two days ago, in the rain...

We were all SOOO muddy!

Stu and the green machine covering the trench from the well.

We passed our second electrical inspection, so we are expecting the electric company to come and hook up the power to the apartment!! So exciting! All the outlets, switches and lights are in and a lot of the trim is up. Just waiting for the drywallers to finish with the bathroom...

This coming week will be another crazy week, but then they all are.  Monday, we've got the drywallers coming back, we also have a guy coming to start the work on the front porch. And any other crisis that may come up...

Hell Week!

I had been dreading this week for weeks! We had to get the trusses down to the house from the top of the driveway and bring all the doors and windows out from our storage unit.

So, we started the week on Sunday, moving some of the smaller truss parts that we could handle with the tractor.

This was the first try, putting it on our friend Jerry's car hauler with a crane, that didn't work.

Next try, Stu made a skid so we could drag them to the bottom.

That worked.

The well drillers showed up next...

More on that later...

The crane, set up and ready for action.

They assembled the overhang/soffit area on the ground.

This was at the end of the day.

So, the well drillers on Monday went down to 600 feet and got nothing...except 13k from us.  They came back the next day and tried a different location, we got water at 140 feet!

Kenny and company continued with the wood on the ceiling.

We raced back to Newport on Wednesday evening to get all the windows and doors.

Another end of the day shot.

The ceiling is almost done, just need to finish one of the bedroom and the bathroom.

Successful well # 2.

The twin bedroom.

The kitchen with the lights rigged up to work.

This was the end of the day yesterday. Kenny got a lot of the flooring done, we love it!

The twin bedroom, almost done.

Another busy week ahead.  Today we are bringing some of the cabinet out as well as boards to finish off the great room ceiling.  With any luck we'll get the ceiling and flooring done and work on the electrical. We have the drywall folks coming out tomorrow to work on the garage/mechanical room/gym and fix the wall in the apartment bathroom.  Fingers crossed, we are shooting for the end of the month to move into the apartment!

Well, Well, Well...

We had a good week. The house is framed and the trusses go up next week!!

The ceiling is going up in the apartment.

We finally found a floor sander and got the floor done!

This was this morning, we cleaned up around the house and burned all the remnants of wood from the framing (while eating boiled peanuts).

In theory we'll have a super busy week.  Monday we have a load of gravel coming, our friend Jerry is coming with his big car carrier trailer along with our crane guy to try to get the trusses from the top of the driveway down to the house. We also have a well driller coming!!  And that's just Monday! The framers will be back on Wednesday to (hopefully) put the trusses up, we still need to get the windows and doors and our carved telephone poles for the front porch out there, in our spare time...😆

WooHoo!!!

Finally!! The stars aligned and we are making good progress!

This is how we started the morning.

They made quick work of the floor!

Stu's post/beams on the back of the garage are up.

We got the solar light caps on.

The back door for the garage is in.

This is the west wall, bedroom on the left, master bath and guest bath windows.

This is the south wall, facing the lake.

We are back in Cosby for the night to return a broken floor sander (#2) and get another one.  Back to the lake tomorrow to get a few things done before they all show up again on Thursday. The siders didn't show up today, but that was actually for the best, we were running all day!

June Update

Wow, it's been a really, really long time since I've updated! So, here we go... We've got the primer and self leveler on the gym...
