Weekend Update

This was this weeks progress...

We have most of the windows in!! 

And the roof is finished.

 

So, next week we've got the excavator coming back, all the siding and roofing material for both the garage and house are being delivered,  appliances are being delivered, unfortunately not to the house.  We've also got the Heat & Air guy coming out to outfit the Garage Mahal. And we'll see what else comes up...

Excavation and Roof Work

Monday morning, no Kenny today but Robbie and Don our excavators are in doing their thing...

This is the front of the garage.

Today they worked on the area off the front porch.

Super steep right now but, the 8 additional concrete blocks arrive today.

Yesterday morning, finishing up the roof!

Our job was to cut the Zip board to length and hand it up to Kenny and Chad.

Robbie bringing the first of 4 long telephone poles down.  They, along with several shorter ones we already had will be the supports for the garage deck.

Roof done and OSB siding almost done.

Bringing out a small load of OSB (at great cost! We've heard the price of lumber is falling, we have yet to see it.  Last month OSB was $24 today it was $50...) to finish the outside walls and windows this morning.  We should be in the dry by the end of the day, save for the doors/garage doors and 3 windows. Can't wait to see it!

We Have a Roof! Well, Half Anyway...

We made some good progress last week.  

The man-reach is up and running.

The west wall is closed in.

The barge rafters are up on the north side. That window is our only access up right now, can't wait to get the deck up!

Last act of the day yesterday, Kenny and Chad putting the Zip board on half of the roof. 

We went to Asheville this morning to pick up some more telephone poles that will support the deck. Tomorrow we've got the excavators coming back for a couple of days and more concrete blocks being delivered.  Bringing the windows out sometime this week too. Should be another busy week!

Roof Trusses and Excavation!!

Our excavators were in last week and we finally have the house and garage backfilled!

 This week will be a busy one! We've got a man lift, lumber and siding being delivered. Small chance of rain on Saturday, hoping for good progress and with any luck we'll be in the dry (roof on, windows in) by next week.

Beginning of June Progress

We took a couple of weeks "off".  Our contractor and his crew went to Vegas for 2 weeks for a bowling tournament.  We took the time to run up to Maine to see family and get some things done before they got back. These first pictures are of the progress just before they left...

It's kind of hard to see it, but these are the rooms.

This will be the bathroom and a bedroom to the right.

The front side of the house. What I didn't get a picture of was the drain tile that went all around the house and garage.  We laid that, then covered it with gravel using the Green Machine (tractor), a shovel and rake...that might explain why I didn't get a picture, we were wiped out!

Last Friday and Saturday we had Robbie and his cousin Don out working on backfilling the house.  

They did a great job tapering the areas around the house.  This will be the view from the office.

This was yesterday, the first roof truss going up!

All of the interior walls are framed and half of the north exterior wall is done. 

Stu is back at the property today working with the excavators backfilling the garage. Can't wait to see it tomorrow! With any luck and cooperation from the weather, we'll be able to finish up the north wall on Friday and be able to set the rest of the roof trusses on Saturday.  Fingers crossed...
