If I haven't mentioned it yet, we have no cell service or internet at the property, unless we run to the neighbors. So, these are turning into weekly updates as we spend more time up there.
I picked this cupola up last week. It's a big one, 6 feet tall. We are thinking maybe it will go on top of the house instead of a chimney, we'll see...
Buckshot and all!
We also got this beauty! Backrests, padded seats, cup holders and snack bags! That's my kind of canoe!!😂
We went up Wednesday morning to find they FINALLY finished the retaining walls. It's crooked and leaning, but I suppose once we get some paint/stone on it, nobody but us will notice.
Retaining wall off the house porch.
Drinks on the dock after a good hard days work.
The Green Machine (AKA the tractor) strikes again! It's been invaluable! Here, Stu is lifting flooring material up to Kenny and Chad.
Kenny, Heather and Chad putting the flooring down.
Stu doing the "Black Mammy", waterproofing the foundation. He started, when I took over I got a few roller strokes in and tripped on a root. You'll see a big black puddle against the wall...that was me. That's one way to get out of work, and I have the bruises to show for it!
Taa-Daa, we have a floor!!
Oh, and our local gas station/deli sells boiled peanuts!!
Saturday morning, bright and early, the walls are going up!
Stu on the left, Chad and Kenny.
This will be the view from the Garage Mahal 2.0 deck.
From the shoreline.
This is how we left it yesterday morning. We ran out of nails or the full wall would have been up. Just a note about our location. The closest hardware store/lumber yard is about 30 minutes (and closed on Saturday), Home Depot/Lowes is about an hour. Not super convenient, along with the lack of cell service and internet, I've started calling it Bedrock...lol!
